YORK COUNTY, SC - Please join Sheriff Kevin Tolson, and members of the York County Sheriff's Office family in congratulating the August Awards and Commendations.
August Employee of the Month – Deputy Nathan Ferrara
- Deputy Ferrara was selected for Employee of the Month for August based upon the kindness and compassion that he showed to a York County citizen. Deputy Ferrara conducted a well-being check on an elderly female and learned that the female was upset because her family never comes to visit her and she also had not eaten a decent meal in a few days. Feeling a great deal of compassion for this individual, Deputy Ferrara took it upon himself to buy her lunch out of his own pocket and then spend time with her while she ate. Deputy Ferrara did not look for recognition for his actions and his kind deed was only discovered when his supervisor was conducting a routine review of Deputy Ferrara’s video footage.
Commendations – Pamela Good, Tonya Pendergrass, Audrey Blanks, & Donta McClure
- Pamela Good, Tonya Pendergrass and Audrey Blanks in the Records Division are to be commended for their hard work which resulted in the apprehension of a dangerous suspect. While in downtown York, Tonya and Pam recognized Charles Pendergrass, who had 10 active warrants, one of which was for attempted murder. Tonya and Pam immediately called Audrey so that she could locate a warrant car to come and arrest the fugitive. Audrey contacted both the York Police Department and the YCSO Warrants Division and relayed the information gained from Tonya and Pam and officers were able to successfully take this suspect into custody. Based upon Pam and Tonya’s vigilance and Audrey’s persistence, a dangerous man was taken off the streets of York County.
- Deputy Donta McClure is to be commended for his hard work and quick thinking which resulted in a NARCAN save. Deputy McClure responded to a drug overdose and was able to maintain his composure, correctly assess the situation, and take the correct course of action which resulted in a successful NARCAN administration.
