YORK COUNTY, SC - Each year local Optimist Clubs recognize York County law enforcement officers during the Optimist Club Respect for Law program. Sheriff Kevin Tolson congratulates Sergeant Mike Doody who received recognition as the 2023 Clover Optimist Club Officer of the Year.
Recognition for the award comes from Sgt. Doody’s mentorship of new deputies through helping with report writing and often being the source of information to fellow supervisors. Additionally, in September of 2022, Sgt. Doody received the YCSO Life Saving Medal for rescuing a person struggling to stay afloat after getting out of a submerged vehicle. This was at the Buster Boyd boat landing in Lake Wylie.
“I am very proud of Sergeant Doody’s accomplishments,” said Sheriff Tolson. “His commitment to the York County Sheriff’s Office’s core values of character, honesty, accountability, integrity and respect for the citizens of York County makes him a valuable asset. He is very deserving of this award.”
Sgt. Doody received the officer of the year distinction on May 23, 2021 during the Clover Optimist Club meeting. Doody has worked for the York County Sheriff’s Office for 22-years.
