YORK COUNTY, SC - The York County Sheriff's Office is currently taking applications for the Citizen's Police Academy. This is the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic Sheriff Kevin Tolson is offering the citizen’s academy.

This year’s citizen’s police academy will consist of six sessions offered on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 at the Moss Justice Center in York. The classes will begin February 20, 2023 and will end with a formal graduation on ---, 2023.

The Citizens’ Police Academy will introduce participants to the various functions of the York County Sheriff's Office and will feature instruction by staff from the different divisions of the Sheriff’s Office.  The goal of the Citizens’ Police Academy, in addition to providing an overview of the Sheriff’s Office, is to create meaningful partnerships with the citizens of York County and give the Sheriff’s Office the ability to serve our citizens better and more efficiently through the open exchange of knowledge and communication.

The Citizens’ Police Academy class is open to adults, 18 years of age and older, and is provided free of charge.

Applications are available at the York County Sheriff's Office website www.yorkcountysheriff.com.  Applications will be accepted through January 27th, 2023.
