Employee of the Month October: Officer Teisha Robinson
Officer Robinson has been with the York County Detention Center since April 2019. Officer Robinson is a very dependable officer. She always reports to work and has a positive attitude, regardless of staffing issues. Officer Robinson always works the rotation assigned without complaint. Officer Robinson is always willing to help her fellow officers and her supervisors where needed. Officer Robinson is an asset to C-team and does a great job!
Life Saving Medal: Sgt. Michael Doody
On September 6, 2022 Sgt. Doody was dispatched to a subject that was inside of his vehicle when is submerged in to the water in Lake Wylie. Sgt. Doody arrived and saw the person struggling to stay above the water. Doody got a life vest to the person where he was able to use it to pull him to shore. If this quick action was not done, it is quite possible the person would have drown.
Letters of Appreciation:
Officers Maria Love and Thelma Rochester - Officers Love and Rochester were issued this letter of appreciation from a co-worker. Officer Love and Rochester are awesome and always willing to help the shifts. Officers Love and Rochester take initiative to get the work done often without being asked. Thanks for all you guys do for the York County Detention Center.
Corporal Michael Jinks - Corporal Jinks was issued this letter of appreciation from a co-worker. Corporal Jinks has quickly learned how to become a leader since taking his new role as Lead Booking Officer. Corporal Jinks assists his booking clerks in any way that he can ensuring that they all get as much work done as possible. Corporal Jinks is a hard worker and motivates his co-workers to work just as hard. Corporal Jinks is an asset to B-team and to York County Detention Center.
Commendations:
Deputy Thurman Lofton
It was acknowledged that Deputy Lofton has been partnering with the York County Juvenile Solicitor’s Office in creating a reading/reward program for troubled youth in our County. The program consisted of reading books, completing reports and presenting these reports to staff. Rewards were given to each juvenile who finished each of these steps. The program has drawn a lot of attention and continues to get donations to fund it.
Shea Lewis, Victim Advocate Supervisor
Since becoming the Victim Services Supervisor in July 2021, Shea Lewis has regularly gone above and beyond for her colleagues in Victim Services when the unit is short staffed. Lewis always exceeds the capacity to show compassion and empathy for victims and their families.
Special Recognition Awards:
Terry Everhart, Rangemaster
Since becoming the Rangemaster, he has consistently went above and beyond his duties and role at the range. Coupled with his experience and proactivity, his dedication to the range has become obvious and noteworthy.
Victims Advocate Services Unit
The division as a whole were nominated based on their vital role in the Sheriff’s Office with individuals who fall victim in York County. They have always come through for the deputies, CID and other departments who have reached out to them for assistance twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
