YORK COUNTY, SC - After eight weeks of training Sheriff Tolson congratulates our 8 newest Deputies who graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy on October 22, 2021. In addition to the group's achievement two deputies earned top honors.

Deputy Andrew Culp won the Clifford A. Moyer Marksmanship Award. This award is named for the First Director of the SC Criminal Justice Academy, and is given to the officer who obtains the highest score during the handgun training on the firing ranges.

Deputy Chase Watts won the Director's Physical Fitness Award.  Director's Physical Fitness Award. This award is given to the top scorer in the physical Abilities test. Every class member participates in a Physical Abilities Test, which consists of nine obstacles. This must be completed in less than two minutes and seven seconds. Also, candidates must complete running the challenge course of a three mile run in twenty-five minutes or less.
