YORK COUNTY, SC – For one month York County Sheriff’s Office male deputies, detention officers, and other personnel may not look as cleanly shaven as they usually do. For one month Sheriff, Kevin Tolson is loosening the policy on facial hair grooming all for a good cause to bring awareness to the fight against all cancer.
The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. For a donation of $20, YCSO deputies and staff can go shave free, bypassing the shaving regulations for the agency. In 2016, Sheriff’s Office employees raised $3,455.
To include female deputies and staff, Sheriff Tolson is allowing female deputies to wear a pink band on their badges as well as a pink t-shirt with uniforms in lieu of the standard black t-shirt.
On November 30th, 2017 at 11:59 pm will conclude the No-Shave November for the YCSO.
