YORK COUNTY, SC – Sheriff Kevin Tolson has promoted Josh Solomon to the rank of Captain over Support Services at the York County Sheriff’s Office. Captain Solomon replaces recently retired Captain Glenn Williams.
Captain Solomon has served the citizens of York County at the YCSO for 21 years. Prior to his promotion, Solomon served as Lieutenant over the YCSO training unit overseeing the training of all Deputies in the enforcement division. Solomon also has served in the patrol division as a patrol deputy and sergeant; traffic enforcement unit, K-9 unit, SWAT team, honor guard and school resource officer.
Solomon is a recent graduate of Anderson University with a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership. He has also completed the FBI Command College and FBI-LEEDA Leadership Trilogy. He is the current President of the South Carolina Training Officer’s Association.
The Support Services Captain manages many special programs offered by the Sheriff's Office, including the K-9 Unit, Lake Enforcement Unit, Court Security Unit, School Resource Officer Unit, Victim's Assistance Unit, Honor Guard, Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), Dive Team and Mounted Patrol.
