YORK COUNTY, SC – On March 29, 2021, Sheriff Kevin Tolson ordered beloved therapy dog Visum to be an Honorary York County Sheriff’s Office K-9. Sadly, Visum passed away on March 6.

“During some of the darkest days in 2018 after the line of duty death of Detective Mike Doty, Visum brought comfort and peace to the grieving men and women of the York County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Kevin Tolson.

Visum provided much needed support to the York County Sheriff’s Office and Public Safety and Communications. Sheriff Tolson presented Elizabeth Wenghofer an order of recognition certificate officially making Visum an honorary YCSO K-9.

“It was him (Visum), it was all him, he was an amazing dog,” said Wenghofer. “The amazing sense he had for people that needed him humbled me, and the blessing he gave to other was a blessing returned to me.”

Visum was adopted and raised by Wenghofer. Wenghofer desired to serve their community and trained Visum as a therapy dog. Visum was 10-years-old.
