[ARCHIVED] York County Sheriff Deputy graduates top his SCCJA class

COLUMBIA, SC / YORK COUNTY, SC (YCSO NEWS) – York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson is pleased to announce Deputy Kyle Merck earned the J.P. Strom Award at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Deputy Merck graduated July 12, 2019 from the SCCJA Basic Law Enforcement Class 699.

The J.P. Strom award is the highest and most prestigious award given to a graduate of the SCCJA.  Deputy Merck obtained the highest academic average with 98.6% throughout the 12-week Basic Law Enforcement Certification program at the academy. There were 55 members of class 699.

Deputy Merck will now enter the York County Sheriff’s Office 12-week field training program.

Deputies Kenneth Mulder, Anthony Lamar, and Korey Wedow also graduated from the SCCJA July 12th.
