YORK COUNTY, SC (YCSO) – On June 7, 2019 at 7:47 PM York County Deputies responded to 899 Rivercrest Rd, Rock Hill in response to a death investigation. When deputies arrived they located two male victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both were critically injured. One victim was taken to Piedmont Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Immediately, Detectives began an investigation into the two deaths. While canvasing the area of Rivercrest Road, officers developed Jimar Frazier Neely, 28, of Rock Hill as a suspect. While investigating, at approximately 9:30 PM, deputies received a call about a burglary at a home with shots fired on Red River Road in Rock Hill. Witnesses stated a black in color Dodge Charger was seen leaving the area on Red River Rd. On the way to Red River Road Deputies encountered a Black Dodge Charger near Peachtree Road and Neely’s Store Road and attempted to stop the vehicle. At 9:42 PM, the driver of the Charger and Deputies exchanged gun fire. The driver of the Charger later identified as Jimar Frazier, stopped at the intersection of Church Rd. and Neely’s Store Rd. Neely ran from the vehicle, but was quickly apprehended.
No Deputies were injured in the exchange of gunfire. Neely was taken to Piedmont Medical Center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Per York County Sheriff’s Office policy, the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has been called in to investigate the officer involved shooting. York County Deputies along with the York County Coroner’s Office are investigating the double homicide.
