YORK COUNTY, SC – The Sheriff’s Foundation of York County, Inc., and Sheriff Kevin Tolson is pleased to announce the York County Sheriff’s Office 1st annual awards banquet to pay tribute to those officers and staff who went above and beyond while in the line of duty for the year 2018.
It is the policy of the York County Sheriff’s Office to publicly recognize and reward employees who exceed agency standards. The YCSO is also committed to recognizing extraordinary acts of kindness and heroism exhibited by members of the public.
The event was held at the American Legion Post 34 in Rock Hill, SC.

PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS
The Purple Heart shall be awarded to a sworn law enforcement officer who while on duty is wounded by a weapon in during a confrontation with another person.

MEDAL OF VALOR RECIPIENTS
The Medal of Valor may be awarded to an individual for an exceptional act or execution of duty performed in the presence of great danger and personal risk, without endangering or jeopardizing the lives of others, and performed in such a manner as to clearly indicate that the individual displayed outstanding ability and judgment in the performance of duty.

LIFESAVING MEDAL RECIPIENTS
The Life Saving Medal may be awarded to an individual whose decisive actions save the life of another person. An individual deserves this award where that individual renders first aid to another who is in imminent danger of succumbing to an injury or illness and where an individual safely removes another from a life-threatening situation
