K-9 Unit

The Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit is responsible for tracking fleeing suspects, searching for missing persons, conducting drug searches in area schools, and training all canines used by the YCSO.

Sgt. Chris Kinsey is the supervisor of the K-9 Unit. 

PLEASE NOTE: The YCSO K-9 Unit does not intake dogs from individuals. The team is strictly run bloodhound unit. Please do not call the YCSO K9 team wishing to donate or surrender a dog.

If you need to surrender a dog or any animal, we would direct you to York County Animal Control Services

ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES: 

  • STRAYS: Stray dogs are accepted at Animal Control Monday- Friday between 11:30 AM and 3 PM. A valid York County ID must be presented at the time of drop off. Please go to the blue door facing the parking lot and ring the bell to the right of the door for service. 
  • SURRENDER: Owner surrenders to Animal Control are accepted by appointment basis. You can schedule a surrender by calling 803-628-3190 weekdays between the hours of 10-4:30.

 Please do not call the YCSO K9 team wishing to donate or surrender a dog.
