CATAWBA, SC – On August 16, 2013 Resolute Forest Products donated $5,000 to the York County Sheriff’s Office to buy safety equipment.

Recently, Resolute Forest Products achieved 250,000 safe work hours at the company’s Catawba mill site.  As a result, Resolute gave the Catawba Mill $5,000 to either spend on their employees or give to an organization of their choice.  In this instance Resolute chose to donate the $5,000 to the York County Sheriff's Office in appreciation for the work York County Deputies do of keeping the mill, mill employees and surrounding communities safe.

“It’s really from the sweat and the hard work of the Resolute employees we receive this money,” said Sheriff Bruce Bryant. “I promise this money will go to good use to purchase safety equipment for our Deputies, and do something nice to recognize our officers."

Resolute Forest Products, formally known as Abitibi-Bowater, employees 615 people, and has been operating at the Catawba Mill in York County since 1959.
