CLOVER, SC – On April 17th, 2013 the Clover Police Department and York County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office that a person believed to be in the City of Clover had made threats towards a school in Chesterfield County. There was never a direct threat made toward a school in the Clover School district.

Working with the information attained at the time, the York County Sheriff’s Office immediately notified Sheriff’s School Resource Officers and the Clover School District.  At that time school district officials placed a lock down on all schools in the district.

The information the York County Sheriff Office was acting on was that the suspect Andrew Ross Brown, 21 made threats to a school in Chesterfield County, he was in the Clover area and he was armed.  At 9:01am, Brown was located at 103 Oak Street in Clover.  Brown was arrested by Clover Police for outstanding warrants he had for Burglary and Larceny in Anson County, North Carolina.

Again at this time there was no direct threat made towards a school in the Clover School District.  Based on the information at the time, the Clover Police Department and the York County Sheriff’s Office fully supports the decision the Clover School District made to put all schools on lock down.
