The York County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post # 1786 has been busy gathering supplies for hygiene kits that will help with relief efforts in Haiti. Individual Explorer Post members gathered the supplies between January 14 and January 28, 2010.
The hygiene kits consist of combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bars or soap and hand towels. The Explorer Post members were able to collect enough supplies for 18 hygiene kits. In addition to the hygiene kits, they were able to collect additional quantities of soap, dental floss, toothpaste, combs, plastic sheeting and blankets that will all go to the relief effort.
The hygiene kits, along with the added supplies, will be delivered during the week of February 01, 2010, to the Woodland United Methodist Church located on Cherry Road in Rock Hill. The Explorer Post's contribution will be added to supplies collected by the Church, and the supplies will then be delivered to Haiti.
York County Sheriff’s Office Master Deputy II Lee Stoneburner and Deputy II Mike Doty expressed their appreciation for the efforts of Explorer Post # 1786. Stoneburner and Doty, both Advisors for the group, report, this is the second collection drive the Post has already participated in this year. Previously, Explorer Post members collected cleaning supplies which were donated to Victim’s Advocates for use in their work with domestic violence victims. Sheriff Bryant congratulates his officers and Explorer Post #1786 for their ongoing contribution to these, and other areas of need. |
